In the 1980’s it seemed like everywhere I turned church leaders were beginning to ask the question, “What is worship?” I went to conferences and listened to discussions but my answer came from looking at scripture. First was the realization that God created man for fellowship. The second thing I saw was that everything Jesus did was to bring glory to the Father. That became the direction of ministry for my life.
BASIC STUFF: I grew up in Marianna, AR and married Becky (childhood sweetheart) in 1972. We have 4 children, Jim, John, Rebekah, and Kathryn.
BIRTH DATE: July 1, 1953 (I’m old but I can still run)
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Music Education (Trombone – major, Piano – minor) from Arkansas State University; Graduate work at Southwestern Seminary (1976-1977)
INTERESTING FACTS: Some would say I’m gadget obsessed (I prefer to say those are helpful ministry tools); I run a lot (especially on Sundays to get everything done); there is always a song in my head but I can’t listen to music and work (it’s too distracting)
